Hello

My name is Zixi Zuo (she/her)

/ˈziː.ʃiː dzwɔː/ or 'zee-shee dzwo'

I am a Chinese feminist sociologist passionate about exploring the intersections of gender, youth culture and digital media. My research delves into how young people navigate mediated intimacies and societal norms in the digital age.

I am currently looking for collaborative research opportunities. Feel free to reach out!

About Me

Outside academia, I express myself through dance, photography, and yoga – practices that ground me and inspire my creative lens on the world. Whether in movement, through the camera, or on the mat, I try to embrace the richness of human connection and the stories that unfold in everyday life.

"There is so much in life, as we know, things that are ordinary or just there, beautiful things, to love; those things that come and go; things that are all the more valuable because they are fragile. Being a killjoy is too occupying, if it takes you away from the worlds you are in; the rise and fall of the sun, the way the trees are angled like that, the smile of a friend when you share a joke, the cold fresh water; the feel of the sea as immersion; the familiar smells of spices cooking."

"The camera makes everyone a tourist in other people's reality, and eventually in one's own."
